City Charter Referendum Q and A At Public Library November 2nd

Editor’s Note: There is an update article regarding the event, City Charter Changes To Be Discussed At Library, being sponsored by the New Britain Progressive.

NEW BRITAIN – A panel discussion on proposed changes to the City Charter to appear on the November 8th Election ballot will be held at the New Britain Public Library, Wednesday, November 2nd. from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The discussion will be held in the Library’s Community Room.

Complex changes have been proposed on the ballot for charter revision this year. What does it mean and how voters better understand these important issues?

The Library will host John McNamara, a New Britain League of Women Voters (NBLWV) member, and Don DeFronzo, the former New Britain Mayor and the Governor William A. O’Neill Endowed Chair Holder at Central CT State University’s Center for Public Policy to “help unpack this for the citizens of New Britain.

“Their talks will cover the proposed changes and the context for these changes as well as the implications involved. We encourage everyone from the community to attend. There will be dedicated time for audience Q&A,” NBPL announced.

The City Charter discussion is free and open to the public. The library session follows an informational session hosted by proponents for a yes vote on the charter questions held at City Hall on October 18th. The NBLWV is circulating a Fact Sheet on the November 8th ballot referenda in its voter registration drive this fall.
