Shaw Coaches 700th Game for New Britain High School
Coach Darwin Shaw has reach another milestone in his long career coaching for New Britain High School, leading the Boy’s Junior Varsity Basketball team for his 700th game and winning more than three-quarters of those games.
Shaw said,
All praise belongs to you, God , for allowing me to reach another milestone. I have been coaching the Boy’s Junior Varsity Basketball team at New Britain High School for the past 39 years. Last night, I coached my 700th game, 532 wins and 168 losses. Thank you, Lord, for your continued guidance.
Darwin “Bubby” Shaw is a longtime coach and teacher in New Britain schools. He has lead the venerable and respected Osgood Shootout benefit basketball tournament that has provided scholarships for New Britain students for decades.
Coach Shaw is author of Becoming Coach Shaw: How I Learned To Run My Own Race. A 1977 graduate of NBHS and New Britain Sports Hall of Fame inductee, Shaw was an All-American long-jumper at Kentucky State.
