Over two hundred nationals mostly from the island of St. Lucia descended on the City of New Britain to attend a play at Trinity on Main. This is the third year that this acting team of Ché Campeche, Inc has graced our city with their talents.
This time they presented a play called “Mal Konpwann”, simply translated “misunderstanding”. Vendors had edible treats from their homeland. One vendor sold a variety of fried fish, cod fish fritters, fried dough all to raise funds for her aunt who needs urgent eye surgery.
The trays of items were almost sold out by intermission. The play was in the island’s native language of creole, a dialect of French. Laughter can be heard throughout the audience as the attendees thoroughly enjoyed the play.
When one of the cast members Hubert Emmanuel was asked why New Britain, he simply stated, “he loves the location and the energy they receive when they visit”. They are looking forward to presenting their new play next spring in the city.
