I am voicing my strong support for Candyce Scott for Alderwoman. Over the years I have experienced her steadfast advocacy for youth and the disenfranchised citizens in our city. As a NAACP member she led the NAACP Youth Group and worked hard to raise funds for transportation at New Britain High School for participation in youth conferences and retreats. She has led New Britain clean-up initiatives and fought for Stop signs and No Parking signs in response to concerns from our citizens. She is a credentialed, effective, licensed clinician and is the owner of Insight of New England Counseling LLC. We have co-chaired the Multicultural Business Coalition in New Britain for the past 3 years and Candyce was a pioneer in producing the first city-wide listing of multicultural businesses. She has petitioned for this listing to be posted on the website of the Visitor’s Center, in order to promote commerce in our city.
She has a passion for the behavioral health of our youth and her public community fashion shows have increased youth self-confidence and self- esteem. My granddaughter was involved in several of her fashion shows is now motivated to pursue a career as a Fashion Journalist. Candyce will be connecting her with professionals in this field. She does this work naturally and instinctively and will persistently fight for the future of our youth as well for the future of the needy and disenfranchised in our city! She is a natural leader and will fight for the necessary resources to improve our city’s future.
