The office of New Britain Mayor Bobby Sanchez (D) announced that Fitch Ratings has affirmed its ‘A’ bond rating for the city, with a Positive Outlook.
“This affirmation is strong recognition that New Britain is moving in the right direction,” said Mayor Sanchez. “My administration met with Fitch and discussed our focus on responsible budgeting, rebuilding reserves, and making disciplined long-term decisions that strengthen the City’s financial future while continuing to deliver for residents.”
The Mayor’s office related that Fitch said the city’s, “steady operating performance and improved budgeting,” including, City Director of Operations and Communications Alisha Rayner said, “plans to fully fund actuarially determined pension contributions and reduce reliance on one-time revenues for recurring expenses.”
“This is the result of hard work across every department in righting our fiscal house and a shared commitment to fiscal responsibility,” Mayor Sanchez added. “We inherited challenges, but together we’ve built real momentum through smart management, accountability, and a clear focus on New Britain’s future.”
