City of New Britain and New Britain ROOTS to Host Earth Day Tree Planting at Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Park

The City of New Britain and New Britain ROOTS have announced plans to Celebrate Earth Day with a tree planting at the Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr Park.

The event is expected to include Mayor Bobby Sanchez (D), the New Britain Public Works Department, New Britain ROOTS, as well as, City officials, staff and other community members.

“The event will highlight New Britain ROOTS and its recent two-year, $114,400 Trees for Communities grant,” said City Director of Operations and Communications Alisha Rayner, “which will support efforts to expand tree canopy, improve access to green spaces, and provide tree planting and maintenance resources throughout the community.”

The event is Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at 10:00am at the Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr Park.
