This year marks the 3rd anniversary of the Black Business Resolution in the City of New Britain.
The Black Business Resolution is 3 years old in New Britain, CT. The first year the resolution was simply read. The second year, we had a small event.
The third year, we were blessed with a beautiful Black Business Expo at the New Britain Museum of American Art. Every year we will continue to grow together!
I want to give a special thanks to the vendors, the Museum, our Secretary of State Stephanie Thomas, Mayor Bobby Sanchez and the community who came out to make this event possible.
This was another joyful Access for All Day at the Museum, who partnered with me to host the New Britain Black Business Expo. We came together to connect local business owners, build support, and promote cooperative economics.
The day featured a drum circle facilitated by the Nomadic Drummers and curated sound by Wide Awake. We also featured a variety of local businesses: CT Lead, Aspennes.Library, Sasha Whole Earth, Inascentsbyre, Pretty Afrika Designs, Kaydrawsy Brofthoughts, Southern Belle Soul Food, 2 gurl LLC, Insight of New England Counseling, LLC, Gorgy by Candy and the SURE Program!
We so grateful for our community, culture and collaboration. As a business owner I know firsthand that it is extremely important to support small businesses, and particularly Black businesses, because we face unique challenges. As Bill Clinton once said, “It’s the economy, stupid.”
This is how people put food on the table and keep funds circulating in our community. Every major business started as a small one.
Let’s make some millionaires while supporting our local entrepreneurs. “It’s the economy, stupid.” So let’s support our local businesses and grow economic opportunities and wealth in our communities.
