School District Launches Free Student WiFi

The Consolidated School District of New Britain has announced the launch of is temporary wi-fi network to aid students with online learning.

With the extended closure of school buildings because of the COVID-19 pandemic and teaching being moved online, the need for students to have access to computers and high-speed internet has become acute, and lack of wi-fi access has become an educational access concern.

“Our primary goal during this time of virtual learning is to ensure that our students are engaged with their teachers and classmates,” the school district says. “However, not everyone has been able to do so because of the lack of internet access in their homes.”

Starting on May 20, 2020, the school district says that it has been, “deploying mobile hotspots into select neighborhoods through the end of this school year.”

The school district says the password to its, “CSDNB_Mobile Wi-Fi network,” can be obtained by calling, “our IT Help Desk at 860-801-1223 (Spanish speaking) or 860-832-4692.”

The district says that tech support for the wi-fi system is available, “via email our contact form or you can call the CSDNB IT Help Desk at 860-801-1223 (Spanish speaking) or 860-832-4692.”

“If you are within a range of 300 feet in any direction of the center of the hotspot,” the school district says, “you will most likely be able to connect.”
