New Britain Industrial Museum Exhibit Opening
The New Britain Industrial Museum is set to open a special exhibit at Anvil Place, the former site of the New Britain National Bank.
“The magnificent lobby of the New Britain National Bank sat empty and largely unused since the bank closed 30 years ago,” the Museum says, saying that, in the exhibit, “our great city’s manufacturing treasures will be displayed in this grand space for the first time!”
The opening of the exhibit is Tuesday, November 24, 2020. Anvil Place is located at 51 West Main Street.
“See the objects that gave New Britain the title ‘The Hardware City of the World’!” the Museum invites.
“Free admittance through Dec 12th” the Museum says, but adds that, “All donations will be gratefully accepted.”
The Industrial Museum says that, due to COVID-19 restrictions, admittance to the exhibit is, “by reservation only.” The Museum has a reservations website where tickets can be reserved.
“Please call (860) 832-8654 upon arrival,” the Museum says.
The dates with available reservations include, November 24th, November 25th, November 28th and more. The available times start between 1:00pm and 3:00pm.
The Industrial Museum says that,
New Britain’s impact has been, and continues to be, felt far beyond its borders and very few of the items we use or wear everyday could have been created without a machine, a part, or a concept that originated in New Britain. In fact, for most of the 20th Century every American came into contact with at least one New Britain Product a day; it was either made here, had a part in it that was made here, or was made on a New Britain machine.
The Museum says that it, “collects, preserves and exhibits items representing more than 200 years of New Britain innovation and invention.”
New Britain Industrial Museum is located at 59 West Main Street.
