Little Poland Festival Returns To Success In 2022
Tens of thousands of people again thronged Broad Street in 2022 in celebration of New Britain’s Little Poland Festival.
After having been cancelled for two years because of COVID-19, the popular celebration of Polish culture, music and cuisine was greeted on June 5, 2022 by huge crowds of people from New Britain, the state and beyond.
The 2022 Festival was blessed with warm and sunny weather, allowing attendees to listen to music on two festival stages, and from bands at the Pulaski Democratic Club and the Belvedere Restaurant.
Singing and dancing presentations graced the main stage, between Sacred Heart Church and the Haller Post.
“With leaping folk dancers, live music, mouth watering food, rides, costumed characters and over 100 vendors,” Festival organizers have said, “the Little Poland Festival has become the largest Polish Cultural Festival in New England. It has become an annual tradition for families.”
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival was cancelled in 2020 and 2021. The Festival was last held in 2019, which was the eighth celebration of the event.
The annual festival draws huge crowds to celebrate in the heart of the Broad Street neighborhood known as New Britain’s Little Poland.
Festival organizers say that the event, “is held on New Britain’s Broad Street stretching from the Washington Street to the Silver Street intersections with vendors, entertainment stages, and attractions spread out over 5 blocks!”
From its humble beginnings,” Festival organizers have said that, “the Little Poland Festival has grown into one of the largest cultural events in the state and one of the largest Polish American festivals in the country.”
