New Britain NAACP to Host 2026 Freedom Fund Dinner

The New Britain NAACP has announced the 2026 Freedom Fund Dinner and is calling on the community to support its mission, advocacy and programs.

The local branch of the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization says that the event theme for this year is “We the People”. NAACP President Jan E. Edwards says that it,

is more than a statement. It is a call to unity, a reminder of our shared strength, and a declaration that our collective voice shapes the future. In a moment when civil rights are challenged, communities are hurting, and justice remains unfinished work, We the People must stand together, reflect, and recommit to the mission before us.

The event is planned for October 10, 2026 from 5:00pm to 7:30pm at The Pavilion at Back Nine at Stanley Golf Course.

The keynote speaker is to be Dr. Jeffrey O.G. Ogbar, Ph.D., who the NAACP says, “is a nationally respected historian and scholar whose work centers on African American history, Black nationalism, and U.S. popular culture.”

Tickets for the event are available online at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/we-the-people-2026-new-britain-naacp-freedom-fund-dinner-tickets-1996920256242?aff=oddtdtcreator.

In addition, event organizers are selling ads for the event program book and patron lists, as well as seeking donations for the silent auction at the event and people and table sponsors.

“To sponsor a table, make a donation, or get printed tickets, please contact Trinene Davis @ [email protected],” event organizers say.
