2026 New Britain 4th of July Fireworks, “Great American Boom” Planned – Free Event and Moved to Walnut Hill Park
New Britain’s widely attended July 4th “Great American Boom” fireworks display, celebrating Independence Day, is planned for the 2026 celebration. The event has been moved to the city’s historic Walnut Hill Park and is to be a free event again for the first time in years, under new Mayor Bobby Sanchez.
The 2026 Great American Boom fireworks event has been scheduled for Saturday, July 4, 2025 in Walnut Hill Park. The city says that the event is to feature, “live entertainment, food trucks, inflatables, amusements, roller skating, and more!”
An estimated 40,000 people have gathered in New Britain on July 4th in past years to view New Britain’s traditionally spectacular Independence Day fireworks display.
“Enjoy an exciting lineup of family-friendly attractions, including inflatables, face painting, a bungee jump, laser tag, a rock wall, roller skating, clowns, and magic performances by Amazing Andy,” the city of New Britain says. “Grab a bite from a variety of food trucks and enjoy live entertainment throughout the evening.”
While thousands have gathered at the park where the event is held, thousands more have historically gathered in numerous locations throughout a large swath of the city. “Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and stay for a spectacular fireworks show beginning at 9:30pm!” the city adds.
The city says that the event is from 3:00pm to until the fireworks begin. Children’s amusements wristbands are to be $10, and music is to be performed by Soul Sound Revue from 5:00pm to 6:30pm and Latanya Farrell from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
And the main event – the fireworks display – is to begin at 9:30pm.
“Join us for one of New Britain’s favorite summer traditions as we celebrate America with music, family fun, and fireworks,” the city of New Britain says.
