The Library says,
Rahkim Sabree is a local New Britain author who will be giving a talk on his new book, Overcoming Financial Trauma.
Financial Trauma isn’t just about money; it’s about lived experiences, cultural narratives, and emotional wounds that shape how we think, feel, and act with our finances. Financial Trauma is any instance, observed or experienced, that has a negative impact on the way someone views, interacts with, or believes about money. It is often a lasting emotional or psychological wound caused by severe financial hardship, such as poverty, debt, or financial abuse. It causes stress responses like panic, avoidance (not opening bills), or hypervigilance (constantly monitoring money), impacting about 68% of U.S. adults. Healing often involves therapy and building healthier financial habits.
“Join us for an engaging talk on this topic and a Q & A session to follow,” the Library says. “The first ten registrants will receive a free copy of Rakhim’s new book!”
The event is Tuesday, June 23rd, 6:00pm–7:30pm in the Library Community Room.
