The October 2018 First Friday will be on October 5th.

“Slip into the fall season and prepare to boogie all night,” said the Museum. “This October, enjoy irresistible harmonies, infectious beats, and a heavy dose of musical nostalgia as nine-piece, Soul Sound Revue invade the NBMAA!”

The Museum says that, “Consisting of equal parts flash, style, and musicianship,” Soul Sound Revue, “utilizes three vocalists and a powerful rhythm section to recreate the sound of The Four Tops, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire, and many more.”

“The band is considered one of the area’s best dance acts,” says the Museum, “and has even drawn praise from entertainer, Whoopi Goldberg!”

First Friday is a monthly event hosted at the Museum. In a festive atmosphere in the halls of New Britain’s own world-class art museum, guests are treated to food, beverage and music.

Guests that this month’s event may also enjoy offerings from Roger’s Orchards and New Britain’s Kinsmen Brewing.

“While you’re there,” says the Museum, “take advantage of a free docent-led tour through the Museum’s vast collection.”

The event is held from 5:30pm to 8:00pm. Admission to the event is $7 for Museum members and $12 for non-members.

The Museum, nestled next to the historic Walnut Hill Park, is widely known as among the best art museums in the country, with a large collection of significant works. The Museum says,

The New Britain Museum of American Art is the first institution dedicated solely to acquiring American art. Spanning four centuries of American history, the Museum’s permanent collection is renowned for its strengths in colonial portraiture, the Hudson River School, American Impressionism, the Ash Can School, as well as the important mural series The Arts of Life in America by Thomas Hart Benton. The singular focus on American art and its panoramic view of American artistic achievement, realized through the Museum’s extensive permanent collection, exhibitions, and educational programming, make the New Britain Museum of American Art a significant resource for a broad and diverse public.

The New Britain Museum of American Art (NBMAA) is located at 56 Lexington Street.
