North Oak NRZ Elects Leadership

The North Oak NRZ has elected its Executive Board and committee chairs to lead the neighborhood organization for the North and Oak Streets area.

In a public vote that was conducted by Elena Trueworthy, the NRZ elected as its leaders,

  • President Pablo Rodriguez
  • Vice President Marie Bachand
  • Secretary Dinah Bissoni
  • Housing Chair Manuel (Manny) Sandoval
  • Public Safety Chair Edgar Lopez
  • Human Resources Chair Vicky Ramos
  • Economic Development Chair Lyubomyra Ivasyuk.

The NRZ said that people eligible to participate in the NRZ elections are those who, “either reside, work, own property, or represent a business or organization in the North-Oak NRZ.”

The NRZ gave special thanks to State Representative Robert Sanchez, Third Ward Alderwoman Iris Sanchez, Alderman Richard Reyes, Alderman Emmanuel Sanchez, Alderman Francisco Santiago, Alderman Don Naples, as well as City of New Britain liaison Margaret Malinowski and Daria Keyes of Neighborhood Housing Services of New Britain.

“Thank you for being present and concerned about the neighborhood,” the NRZ said.

The NRZ also thanked Fire Chief Raul Ortiz and Acting Chief of Police Chris Chute for joining the meeting and speaking to those in attendance.

The North Oak Neighborhood Revitalization Zone (NRZ) is a community organization, formed under state law, that is committed to the social and economic progress in the North-Oak neighborhood.

The NRZ advocates neighborhood concerns to be addressed, and has worked to involve people in volunteer efforts for the neighborhood, such has neighborhood clean up activities.

The NRZ announced that its next meeting will be March 28, 2019 at 7:00pm. It is to be held at St. Ann Church at 47 Clark Street.
