Chute Nominated Chief of Police

A resolution confirming the nomination of Acting Police Chief of Police Christopher Chute for the permanent position of Chief is before the City Council.

The resolution on confirming is nomination says that, “Acting Chief Chute has been a police officer with New Britain since 1996, rising through the ranks of Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain and Deputy Chief.”

The resolution also says that Chute, “holds a Master of Science in Computer Information Technology and a BA in Political Science/Criminal Justice.”

Chute Nominated Chief of Police

Chute was selected as Chief by Republican Mayor Erin Stewart, after the Board of Police Commissioners recommended his appointment.

The City Charter says that all appointed department head selections are made by the mayor with the consent of the Council.

The resolution is on the agenda of the March 27, 2019 Council meeting.
