New Britain Forum, Instead of Debate, Now Planned

The New Britain Progressive has decided to focus on its new online TV news show, New Britain Forum by the New Britain Progressive, instead of its previously planned candidate debate.

The online debate between the three candidates for the Democratic nomination for Mayor, that was to be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021, has been cancelled.

Instead, the New Britain Progressive has announced that it plans to continue building its new TV-style online news talk show that premiered on June 19th.

In the show’s premiere, guest Ronald P. Davis was interviewed host John McNamara on topics that included the 2020 summer of protest in New Britain and nationwide, following the murder of George Floyd by police in Minneapolis, and the findings of the “Shaping Peace Together: Advancing Racial and Social Justice” conference by the New Britain Area Interfaith Conference (NBAIC).

The New Britain Progressive recently celebrated its fifth anniversary as a newspaper, providing hyper-local coverage of news and events in New Britain. The all-volunteer, not-for-profit newspaper, which has been publishing since April of 2016, has broken some of the most significant news in the city during its years in publication.
