Council and Board of Education Leaders Announce Joint Meeting on Schools Budget

New Britain City Council President Pro-Tempore Francisco Santiago (D-5) and Board of Education President Joseph Listro (D) have announced, “a special joint meeting dedicated to discussing the crucial topic of the school budget process for the upcoming fiscal year 2024-2025.”

Santiago and Listro said, in a statement, that, “this collaborative gathering underscores the commitment of both bodies to ensure transparent and effective communication for the betterment of our community,” adding,

This special meeting aims to foster open dialogue and cooperation between the Common Council and the Board of Education. Stakeholders, including parents, educators, and concerned citizens, are encouraged to attend, reinforcing the shared responsibility we hold in shaping the future of education in New Britain.

The Council’s meeting notice says that,

The New Britain Common Council and the Board of Education will hold a special joint meeting on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 6:00 pm in the Common Council Chambers, 27 West Main Street, New Britain, Connecticut. There will be public participation at the start of the meeting at 6:00 pm. Individuals seeking to join public participation remotely may join the queue beginning at 5:55 pm by calling 1 (339) 209-6176. Members of the public may attend meetings in person or view a live broadcast of the meeting online via the livestream link: https://www.newbritainct.gov/meetings

The meeting concerns the budget for New Britain schools for the budget year that goes from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025.
